POSITION TITLE:  Diving System Technician

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Maintains and repairs all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and ancillary equipment, associated with all Diving activities (Mixed Gas and Air) both on-shore and off-shore. 
  • Ensure that the dive systems and associated plant is maintained and certified in line with relevant legislation and industry standards, has sufficient critical spares to be operated safely.

REQUIREMENTS:

A. Have intimate knowledge of IMCA technical requirements and be able to prepare diving equipment to D023 and D040
B. Have competency in the following disciplines:

  • Hydraulic power units, pumps, circuits and winches.
  • Compressors, gas transfer equipment, piping, hoses and gas regulating devices.
  • Mixed gas and air surface supplied diving equipment.
  • Electrical power distribution systems.
  • Communications and video systems
  • Diver hot water machines
  • Deck Decompression Chambers
  • Divers reclaim equipment, helmets, and Secondary Life Support systems.
  • Performs inspections and testing on equipment to maintain certification and compliance standards.
  • Compiles and updates maintenance and service logs on all Diving Equipment
  • Generates requisitions for repair parts, spare parts, and general system inventory
  • Oversee the repair and service center operations
  • Perform routine maintenance of diving equipment, including disassembly, inspection, cleaning, repair and replacement of defective parts, product assembly and testing
  • Complete, process and maintain all relevant paperwork and service records
  • Coordinate with Diving Operations Manager and head office to track service progress, manage chain-of-custody and shipping of customer gear, and provide regular updates on service turnaround time for communication with customers
  • Respond to clients technical inquiries on the telephone, by mail, e-mail and in person following a set procedure
  • Manage Compressed Air Operations processes, including oversight of routine maintenance and testing as well as troubleshooting of compressor-related problems
  • Ensure compressor compliance with applicable air quality standards for breathing gases in accordance with DOT, OSHA, State and Federal agencies; document and maintain records for employees involved in Hazardous Materials Operations
  • Collect data and provide regular reports on equipment servicing, repairs, air fills & inspection services
  • Assist in training employees in the proper procedures for accepting and processing repairs as well as various aspects of compressor operations and maintenance
  • Provide Technical base Operations support during special events, or as needed to cover staffing deficiencies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE: 2 months on 1 month off

LOCATIONS: Kazakhstan and/or Russia with trips elsewhere if required
